The Honbu Dojo for the Shotokan Karate International GB
is situated at the Nottinghm Emmanual School in Wilford Village, Nottingham.
Hanshi Asano teaches here every Tuesday evening
(unless away on teaching commitments), and every session is an experience of traditional karate
teaching from one of the world's most renowned teachers. The class attracts senior karateka from all
over the country. All styles are welcome.
The session starts at 7:30pm and concludes at 8:30pm, normally followed by much needed
refreshments from the local hostelry. Cost of the session is currently £5:00.
Honbu Dojo is also used for the Gradings and Squad Training Sessions
Directions from Motorway M1 South.
Exit junction 24 (either north or southbound). Take the
A453 towards Nottingham. Continue along the road, past Radcliffe on
Soar Power Station and Clifton. As you pass Clifton, the road turns
into a duel carriage way just before Clifton Bridge. Get into the left
hand lane and take the left slip road before the bridge. At the island
, take the first exit. Go staight on at the small roundabout. Turn left
at the traffic light(signposted "Wilford Village"). Drive through the
village until you come to the pub on your left, The Ferry Inn. Turn right
at the pub into Coronation Road and follow it to the end. At the end
you will come to Nottingham Emmanual School. Take the right fork into
the car park. Once through the main doors turn right, go through the
doors on your left and the Dojo is straight ahead. Changing rooms are
on your left.If attending a grading, a different hall is used. This
can be located by entering the changing rooms and going out the door
on the far side.

Directions from Motorway M1 North.
Exit junction 25 (either north or southbound). Take the
A52(Derby Road) towards Nottingham. Continue along the road, going straight on at all
islands. You will pass places such as Bardills Rose Gardens, Bramcote
Sswimming Baths, Beeston, "Priory" pub. After the Priory, you will go
up a small hill, with Nottinghm University on your right hand side. As
you come down the other side of the hill, you will come to an island at
which you need to turn right("QMC" hospital on right hand side).
Go past the "QMC"(now on your left hand side) and towards Clifton
Bridge. You will see Central TV Studios on your left and Megabowl and
Showcase Cinema on your right. Get into the middle lane before you go
over the bridge, which will turn into the left hand lane as you enter
onto the bridge. After a hundred yards or so, two more lanes will
appear from your leftt. Stay in the same lane(third from the left).
You will go through a small underpass, immediatley after this, take
the left slip road (signed "Silverdale"), and you will come to an
Island. At the island, take the first exit. Go staight on at the
small roundabout. Turn left at the traffic light(signposted "Wilford
Village"). Drive through the
village until you come to the pub on your left, The Ferry Inn. Turn right
at the pub into Coronation Road and follow it to the end.

the main doors turn right, go through the doors on your left and the

Directions from East of Nottingham
Pick up the A52 via either the A46 or A606 and head
towards Nottingham. Just before the Clifton Bridge (just after the
golf course on the left - you should also be able to see Clifton Flats
on your left), get into the left hand lane and take the slip road
signed to M1 and "Silverdale". This slip road leads on to an island.
At the island take the third exit. Go staight on at the small roundabout. Turn left
at the traffic light(signposted "Wilford Village"). Drive through the
village until you come to the pub on your left, The Ferry Inn. Turn right
at the pub into Coronation Road and follow it to the end. At the end
you will come to Nottingham Emmanual School. Take the right fork into

Directions from North of Nottingham
Directions from A60 and A614. Both of these roads will
bring you to a roundabout. Take the A60 signed towards Nottingham
(Petrol Station on LHS). Continue along this road(A60) until a major
road junction. Get into the right hand lane and turn right onto the
Ring Road(A6514). Continue along this road, past Nottingham City
Hospital on the RHS. Follow signs for "QMC". Go past the "QMC" and
towards Clifton Bridge. You will see Central TV Studios on your left
