Pasq Mura Sensei 6th dan

Born in 1963 in Nottingham. Pasq first started karate at the tender age of 9 when Bruce Lee was all the rage, he trained for one year and then started for real in 1979, aged 15.
Pasq's first Club was Chilwell Olympia, which was run by Albert Hampson (former secretary of SKIGB) at the time. Other instructors during the early years at Chilwell were Al Jones, Mick Simpson and John Crowther...who is still training and teaching today over 30 years later! Hanshi Asano would visit the club on a monthly basis, top SKI instructors such as Paul Mead and Keith Barnes would also regularly teach at Chilwell. Soon after, Pasq began weekly training under Master Hanshi Asano at Carlton Forum & Honbu Dojo in Nottingham. Over the years has trained with many top Japanese and European instructors however most training has been with Hanshi Asano 9th dan and Keith Barnes 5th dan. Pasq continues to train on all of the SKIEF courses as well as at the Honbu Dojo. In addition his personal training includes circuit trainng, running, bag work and makiwara.
After passing his 1st Dan in 1983, he recently graded to 5th Dan at the August 2004 Summer School. All his grades have been awarded by Asano Hanshi 9th Dan, Chief instructor to SKIEF.
Pasq started competing soon after joining Chilwell Olympia in 1979. He entered his first S.K.I competition in April 1980 as a yellow belt, where he achieved second place in the junior grade kata. He remembers being inspired by the winning Nottingham team, which included Roy Harrison, Paul Mead, Keith Barnes and Aiden Trimble.
In 1984 Pasq was a member of the Chilwell Olympia team that won Shiro Asano Champs. The same year he also achieved 3rd place in the individual kumite at S.K.I. Nationals and EKC All-styles Championships. In the years since he has gone on to win the Team Kumite title with Chilwell Olympia four times. He has also been a member of Nottingham Team which won numerous team kumite and kata titles during the late 80's and 90's. In August 1988 Pasq became S.K.I. British Champion for the first time, beating John Allen of Wales in a close final. He has now been British Kumite Champion an unrivalled 14 times (!) and Kata Champion 4 times and is still going strong.
Pasq was first selected to compete at the 1986 European Championships in Cork, Ireland for the England Team. Here they won silver medal getting narrowly defeated by Italy in the final. Has now competed in four European Championships and five World Championships spanning 15 remarkable years of competitive karate. Highlights of his international career include - GOLD medal at the 1991 World Championships in Mexico for Mens Team Kumite GOLD medal at the European Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark 2001 for Mens individual Kumite (65kg), and he recently became Kumite World Champion at the 10th SKI World Championships in Athens, Greece.
Pasq has been teaching for over twenty years and is now the chief instructor of Chilwell Olympia Karate School, and assistant honourary secretary of the SKI GB. Pasqualino is a karateka who upholds the traditional aspects of karatedo and strives to impart to his students all that he has learned, and continues to learn from his Sensei's.Pasq also teaches as guest instructor at other clubs.

Pasq attained his 6th Dan in August 2010, and then he was presented with the Wilkinson Sword of honour at the 36th Annual SKI-GB Nationals the following day.

He has represented Great Britain at 5 European and 8 World Championships and his titles include:

•  2 World Championship Gold medals

•  1 World Bronze

•  1 European Gold

•  2 European Silver and 1 bronze

• 18 British titles.
